A Queen delights in hearing the voice of God

The news feeds on our Social Media accounts are never quiet; it’s a continuous flow of information about everything, and anything. Some of the content may be of interest to us, while others may not be. Whether in words, pictures, or videos we get it all, and we are left to decide what to do with it. This is the information age, and this is communication on steroids. There is a big race for our time and attention.

Words, however they are presented, have power; the ability to communicate is a blessed gift that we are to cherish. Through speech, we are able to communicate our thoughts so we can be heard and understood, and we can hear and understand others. An exchange of words and ideas between humans has the potential to create magnificent masterpieces of something, or disaster of another. We have the power to choose which of these two are brought to life.

Amidst our own voices, there is another voice; it is the voice of God. In today’s devotional, we will explore what can happen When God Speaks. We learn from the written Word, the Bible that the earth, and all in it became a reality through the voice of God – by His words. In the first chapter of Genesis, we learn that God Spoke and darkness was brought to light.

And God said “Let there be light”, and there was light.

Genesis 1:3

The sea, and land, vegetation, animals, birds, the sun, moon all came into being When God Spoke. After creating all that would be needed for man’s survival, later, we know that God spoke more words; it is written:

Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

Genesis 1:26

The content of the Bible is evidence that God always has something to say; His word existed from the beginning, and they will be until the end.

In the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God.

St. John 1:1

When God Speaks His words are power, and become law; as God’s His children can rely on them, because they are true. When God created man in His image, it was so that we can have a relationship with Him: to hear Him speak to us, for us to talk to Him, be in His presence and commune with Him. The gift of communication between God is bestowed so we can be guided, directed and instructed in the way we are to go – this is True Love.

As Daughters of the King, we are blessed to be able to hear Him speak to us; our King wants very much for us to desire to hear what He has to say, much like He spoke to Abraham, Moses and so many other characters in the Bible. When God Speaks, we have access to His wisdom, guidance, direction, instructions and revelations. These are so very important to have, so that in our everyday existence we can live life with meaning, purpose and confidence. The voice of God is a gift that ought to be desired, embraced, and appreciated. There is so much to be gained when we are able to hear the voice of He Who created the Universe, this is such an awesome privilege- after all, He knows everything about everything- He is Truth. What more can we ask for?

The everyday noises of life in the form of the radio, television, social media platforms, the apps and games we download on our phones can be very distracting; these many voices can drown out the voice of God so that we are unable to hear When God Speaks. All in all, it is the voice of God that has the power and ability to direct us to the destiny that He has in store for us; that same voice is able to keep us out of danger , and lead us towards opportunities and the discovery of purpose. Yet, we must be listening in order to hear. It is written:

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.

Isaiah 30:21

You see Queens, everyday as we go through our life experiences, it is important that we draw closer, and closer to God so we can hear Him speak; He is always speaking. We should desire guidance about the when, where and what to do. So often persons will ask: how do I know when God is speaking to me? God being a Spirit, and we been humans, we need to be attentive to hear God speaks to us, and to be aware of all the ways He communicates with us:

There are so many ways that God speaks:

1. Through the Word of God, the Bible

2. Through Nature

3. Through our Spirits/ thoughts/ideas

4 Through the voice of other persons

5. In the reading of a book

6. Through songs

7. Through dreams and visions

We can learn from faithful women in the Bible who thrived on hearing God speak to them. Queen Esther is a Model Woman from whose story we can glean much wisdom. Esther, in facing the challenge of her people being the target of a destructive plot, sought God through prayer and fasting. God spoke and she obeyed His voice and her people were saved, and the enemy destroyed.

In our desire to Dare to Do Right, we do better When God Speaks to our tender hearts, and leads us on the path of righteousness for His Name’s sake. Our ability to master the art of Living in Truth involves recognizing the voice of God, and following where it leads. Jesus said it well:

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

St. John 10:27

Oh Queen, will it be that When God Speaks, you will hear, listen and follow His voice? Will you be the sheep of His pasture, and it can be said of you at the end of it all:

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.

Proverbs 31:31

May we be challenged, and encouraged to ask God to speak to us continually; may we always be able to recognize When God Speaks, and may we have faith to believe, and obedience to comply with His will. We will find that God has much to speak into our lives; His thought towards us are good, so we must live with a desire and passion to hear what God has to say, and also to do what He says; therein lies our freedom and blessing to live The Queen Life in the Palace of our God and King.

GOD IS ALWAYS SPEAKING, WILL YOU BE ALWAYS LISTENING?

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I know that it is Your will for me to have a personal and growing relationship with You, so that I will be able to hear clearly when You speak to me. Lord sometimes Your voice can be blocked by the noise around me, but I ask that You please help me to be so focused on You, and what You have to say to me. I do not want anything to prevent me from hearing when you speak, because I know that Your words give life eternal.

Lord I know that Your voice makes a difference, and will give me peace, joy and clarity during all my daily experiences. Without the help of Your Holy Spirit l will not be able to stay focused at all times, so I ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit so I can do what is right, and good.. You said I should ask and I will receive, so Lord I ask that You will help me to be attentive to Your voice, and the methods You will use to speak to me. Help me not to only to hear Your voice, but to do what You instruct me to do. Please give me an obedient heart to do Your will.

In Jesus’s Name I pray – Amen
