Devotional – The Queen Life – Day 9

Thursday March 11, 2021

The Bible stories that are recreated for children can be quite fascinating; do you agree? Did you read any Bible Story Books when you were a child? If you did, which Bible story was your favourite?

I learned over fifteen years ago that the stories in the Bible follow a family lineage from generation to generation. Whoever had the job of recording the history as it unfolded had quite a task. It is amazing though how each character entered and exited the stage; all telling their part of the story. As we read through the Word of God, we meet Bible characters who loved, honoured and obeyed God. We also met some who were rebellious and different. All in all, their actions reflected the state of their hearts.

What if you lived during the days when the Bible was written; which female Bible character do you think you would be? Would it be Eve, or Noah’s wife, what about Miriam, Sarah, or Hannah, Ruth, Esther, Naomi? Mary, the mother of Jesus, Elizabeth, Mary Magdalene? We can’t help but acknowledge that each of these women played a role in the unfolding of the Bible’s story; in whatever capacity they showed up, their story was recorded.

Noah and his family are famous for their faith and obedience to God in building an ark that saved them from the flood. Having heard God’s directive, Noah purposed in his heart to obey; his wife, sons and daughters in law supported him and made the project a success. The story of The Great Flood is told over and over again all over the world. The story would have never been told if Noah and his family did not respond to God’s directive.

On that very day Noah entered the ark, along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and his wife, and the three wives of his sons

Genesis 7:13

Every time we take up the Bible, we are privileged to read the story of a person who turned up and played a role; whether good or not so good. Still the story is told. As Believers, we too are telling a story that is no doubt being recorded. When we make an effort to draw close to God, to read His Word, and strive to live in a way that pleases God, it matters. If too, we neglect our spiritual lives and do little to nourish our spirits, there is record of that too.

Today’s Devotional Topic is Untold Stories. We are invited to think deeply about how we want our story to unfold. In our interaction with our King; what will be the character we play? How will our story unfold? It’s a fact that you and I hold the pen that will write the story that will be told of us. Each day, we can direct how the story goes; those pages will be filled with words that our hearts wrote.

Tomorrow’s stories are not yet written; the pen will begin to record again when we awake. Every new moment is a new opportunity to tell a more intriguing, interesting and faith-inspired story about our faith in God. Much like Sarah, who though she laughed at God’s promise, eventually she believed and received her reward. Hannah, who cried for many years to have a child; she thought her prayers were never heard, then she gave birth to Samuel. Ruth, who being from a foreign nation became the maternal lineage to Jesus.

If I know nothing else, I know that our God and King is still in the business of facilitating stories. On account of our faith and willingness to obey God, our lives will tell the story that will reflect evidence of His love and power. The hearts of you and I can be directed towards purpose when we dwell in God’s presence and read His Word as food to nourish our souls. From the inner-most parts of our beings, will flow virtue as we portray that we are:

God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Dear Queen, you have the gift of Beautiful Eyes; surely you can appreciate a great story- one that is worthy of an award. You are loved unconditionally by your KING. Your life script will unfold and record interesting adventures about your faith journey. There are still UNTOLD STORIES that your your Beautiful Heart will write about your Everlasting Love for your God. The world is waiting to read them, so go forth and let the pen do its mighty work.

GOD BLESS YOU…

  • Who is my favourite Bible Character, and why?
  • What will be the outcome of my faith story?
  • What will I do to ensure that I am proud of how my story ends?

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Heavenly Father,

It is a blessing to read the many stories recorded in your word about characters who have loved and served You faithfully. Still, there were those persons who dishonoured Your love by their actions. As Your daughter, Ides of history possible to love myself, or other persons. dear Lord, Please teach me how to let my life record a story that pleases You in every way.

I know though that having the desire is only part of the process. May I also have the courage to take decisive action that will result in fulfilling the purpose for which I was created. I am a QUEEN; and the QUEEN LIFE is mine to experience; yet the details of my UNTOLD STORY determines the quality of the life You have promised. Please lead me and I will follow.

In Jesus’s Name I pray – Amen
