Devotional – The Queen Life – Day 14

Thursday March 18, 2021

The Psalmist David experienced firsthand the goodness of the Most High God. In His many Psalms, he mentioned God’s compassion, grace and abounding love. Despite his trespasses, King David received forgiveness for even what could be seen as a grave sin, and was even deemed “A Man After God’s Own Heart”. Time and time again, the King experienced a Glorious Reset; it is the nature of God to give grace to the humble.

be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.

1 Peter 5:5

Recently I was having a conversation with my oldest daughter; our talk was about the relationship we shared during her early childhood years; in particular about my parenting strategies. She openly shared how hurt she felt sometimes when I would discipline her often including harsh words that she said left emotional scars.

Some of the things she said I told her, I do not remember; yet they never left her her mind. Hearing her words made me regret that my ignorance and anger caused her so much pain. Then she said to me: “But mom, you are so different now though“. My heart melted; I felt a sense of relief because truly I had learned so much since those days and I have been deliberate about becoming a better mother. What was even more amazing was when she said, “I have forgiven you too”.

Almost four years ago, I gave birth to a son; in my role as a parent I endeavour to learn from my past mistakes so I won’t inflict the same pain my actions and words caused for my daughter. I was sure to admit to her that there were times when I could have handled things better, and I apologized to her for my actions. She gave me the grace I needed, and we are both free to move forward. In having the opportunity to be a better parent I see it as a Glorious Reset; a second chance to do it right.

Our Heavenly Father is the first and best parent ever; He knows and practices the most effective parenting strategies that helps His children to flourish. As my relationship with God grows closer and deeper, I find that all that concerns me is of importance to Him; I have learned to trust and depend on Him for all that I need including how to be a better parent. In my relationship with God, I take the position of being Daddy’s Little Girl. so I can maintain a humble and teachable spirit.

As women our daily life experiences can be quite demanding and overwhelming; between each one we can have the perfect opportunity to be tempted to act in a way that does not serve the greater good, nor is pleasing to God. This is when and where a Glorious Reset is a great blessing. I have come to learn that sin is not always avoidable, but being conscious of our mis-steps is what keeps us from being overtaken by its vicious claws of the enemy. Apologies are quite liberating and is a good practice in order to be victorious over the devil’s plots it is a good practice to focus on the Word of God. My go to Scripture is:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end;  they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”.

Lamentation 3: 22-23 ESV

On your faith journey, it is important to keep in mind that accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour means that you are a Daughter of the King. As earthly parents we do not banish our children when they make mistakes; instead we correct them over and over; discipline is sometimes necessary and we do that too. We too enjoy grace over and over again; God’s mercies never come to an end.

Our salvation is not a guarantee that we will live a “sinless” life, but surely by God’s grace, and the teaching of the Holy Spirit we will learn how to “sin less”. Sporting a humble heart will cause us to be conscious when we err; we will be quick to admit (confess), and apologize (repent) and change course to do better. When we do, our God joyfully forgives us of our sins and we can have the blessing of a Glorious Reset. It is written:

“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins..”

Isaiah 43:25

At every moment of our walk with God we are able to enjoy a Glorious Reset. We get to start over and over and over again, and one day we eventually get it right. The QUEEN LIFE involves understanding that the grace our KING extends to us is not an invitation to keep on sinning because His mercies are new every morning, and endure forever. Instead, it releases us from bearing the burden of guilt and shame that sin can lay so heavily on our hearts. In confessing our sins, we are treated to a Glorious Reset; as we experience the unconditional love of God, we have the space to grow and change into a closer image of Christ and we are celebrated with The Full Reward.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death

Romans 8:1-2

Queen, as often as you need to take advantage of the KING’S gift to you to have a Glorious Reset, you should take it. Surely, you are Daddy’s Little Girl and He loves you unconditionally. Your success is a high priority for your God and as you maintain a broken spirit and a contrite heart you will always receive forgiveness as often as you need it. Keep moving forward and:

…forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

The winning is in the pressing forward; if a Glorious Reset is needed, the take it, but never stop, nor allow yourself to be stuck where you are. Sin has no power over you; after all, when Counting the Cost, the debt has been Paid in Full.

GOD BLESS YOU…

CONSIDER

  • Am I willing to accept God’s forgiveness and start again as often as I need to until I get it right?
  • How easy is it to forgive myself for the wrongs I have done and press forward in faith?

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am overjoyed to know that there is no condemnation for those who trust in You. As I learn how to overcome the temptation to sin I am grateful that I have the gift of a second chance as often as I need to

I know that the gift of a Glorious Reset is not an invitation to keep doing what is not pleasing to You; instead, it is an opportunity for me to learn to love You more perfectly. Teach me dear Lord how to keep my mind stayed on You and press towards the mark of the higher calling.

I embrace the QUEEN LIFE, and I will do what is necessary to experience all that You have in store for me. I thank You for Your love, mercy and grace that never ceases.

In Jesus’s Name I pray – Amen
