The Queen and Her King…

MONDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2021

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light”. (1 Peter 2:9)

The word of God is like honey; as sweet as can be. Would you agree? I have been enjoying the Devotional Study Series of the Virtuous Woman immensely. How has it been for you? Please take a moment to leave a comment below. I hope that The Case for Virtue has been settled in your heart and mind, and you recognize the priceless gift we have to behold a standard by which we can live and enjoy peace with God and ourselves and achieve success in our relationships and work.

In Week 4, in our Daily Devotional we will focus on the topic: Go Forth: Exuding the Essence of God in Everyday Life. The daily topics will strive to establish the Virtuous Women as a friend on whom we can rely to show us the path that leads to righteousness. Today’s Devotional topic is: The Queen and Her King; we will see the Virtuous Woman for who she truly is and find ourselves in her. I hope you will enjoy and be inspired.

In reading Proverbs 31, did you realize that the story begins with a mother giving counsel to her son, who was a King. She tells him how he ought to conduct himself in his daily life, but not without speaking candidly to him about the type of woman he is to desire. If then he is a King, then the woman whom his mother describes would be his Queen. This is what the King’s mother says to him almost immediately after their dialogue begins:

O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows, do not waste your strength on women, on those who ruin kings.

Proverbs 31:2-3

She knows all too well how a woman affects the outcome of a man’s life, so she charges him to stay away from the type of woman who would bring him ruin. Further, she goes on to tell her son about the woman who would be good for Him; she asks the question:

A woman of noble character who can find?

Proverbs 31:10

The woman of a noble character, the King’s mother speaks of as being: “far more precious than rubies” (Proverbs 31:10). There is no doubt that a woman of such a character would first be a daughter of the Most High God, who is King of all Kings. She would love God with all her heart and share a relationship with Him that would be her highest priority. It would be through God’s power that she would be able to be a virtuous wife to her husband and also be effective in all her other relationships. The Scripture speaks about a wife in this way:

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.

Proverbs 18:22

The concept of “Queen” is the signature of The Virtuous Woman Project. The truth I just shared about the Virtuous Woman being a queen is the essence of the vision I continue to share with you in its various forms. You see now that there is a method to my madness:-). As the Lord revealed to me, the secret to how a woman can live a life that pleases Him, I share it with as many women as I can. A most valuable truth I have learned about being “Virtuous”; it is that it does not require perfection; instead it’s about having a humble heart and desiring to perfectly love He who is perfect- The true and Living God.

THE ESSENCE OF A QUEEN Let us define the key word being explored. The word essence is defined as: the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character. The word, “Queen” as being used in this context is defined as: a king’s wife; or the female ruler of an independent state, especially one who inherits the position by right of birth. Both definitions of “Queen” suggest some important features of the position:

Royalty – a person or a group of people related to a monarch.

Authority – the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience

Responsibility – the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone

It is already established that the Creator of the Universe is King. There are several Scriptures in the Bible that confirms this truth:

For the LORD Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.

Psalm 47:2

About you, and I who are created in God’s image and whom He has chosen to be His children, the Scriptures speaks to our status; one such passage is found at 1 Peter 2:9:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light””

1 Peter 2:9

Let us recap and expound on the concepts we explored above you being “Royalty” – by birth right as a daughter of the King.

Royalty – a person or a group of people related to a monarch.

Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:17)

Responsibility – the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone.

“You shall therefore obey the voice of the Lord your God and follow His commandments and statutes I am giving you today. (Deuteronomy 27:11)

Authority – the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” – (St. Matthew 16:19)

I know that you agree with me, that the Case for Virtue has been made and declared victorious. As women, we have this infallible blueprint that guides us as we build our lives on rock solid faith in God. As we all strive to be Virtuous Women, we are assured that by birth right we are royalty and have the responsibility to act as such. When we do, we will receive God’s promise of the “Keys to the Kingdom”; with them we can positively impact the world.

In embracing “virtue’ as our standard, we have all that we need to live victoriously: as we dwell perpetually in the presence of our King, through prayer and building a solid and intimate relationship with Him, we have the opportunity to restore any brokenness in our lives, to make petitions to God on behalf of our world that is in need of healing. A woman of this caliber will be the “good thing” a man finds when he meets her; so too will all others who interact with her. Virtue is a woman’s super power… let us pursue it with all that we have.

LET US PRAY

Dear Heavenly Father,

I walk in a new light and with a greater purpose knowing that I am Royalty. Now, I need the faith to always believe in who I am in You. I do not want to ever forget that I am your chosen- a daughter whom You love with an everlasting love.

Each day, I am learning the value of “Virtue” and understanding how I benefit when I strive to be a Virtuous Woman. I want to fully live out the essence of being a “Queen”; accept my responsibility to obey You and embrace the authority I have through the gift of the Keys to the Kingdom.

May my love for You be perfect, and my obedience to You be always complete and never partial so that all Your plans for me can be fulfilled on schedule. I ask for increased wisdom, knowledge and understanding so I can live intelligently by the standard of Virtue.

In Jesus’s Name I pray…Amen
