WEEK 3: THE CASE FOR VIRTUE- VIRTUE IN ACTION
Practical Creativity…
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2021
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers (Exodus 35:35)
I hope you are being inspired by this week’s series of Virtue in Action. In my contributed devotional last Thursday, I spoke on the Virtuous Woman’s creativity; she created the finest clothing for all in her household, and the merchandise she sold to merchants were of excellent quality. The woman in Proverbs 31:10-31 certainly had many wonderful attributes and qualities; as a woman myself. I strive and desire to be as she was.
Today we will explore Practical Creativity in our everyday lives as women. If we took the time to look around, we would see that all around us is nothing but the splendor of what was in God’s mind and was brought to life in 3D and color by action. It is written:
But God made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
Jeremiah 10:12
All humans are the result of the creativity of God; it is no wonder He placed within us the ability to create as well. When we create whether on a small or large scale, we are glorifying God and showing Him just how thankful we are for the gifts He blesses us with.
Recently my friend and I, along with our daughters decided to host a mommy-daughter day at one our homes. There were five of us in attendance. One of my friend’s daughters is a creative genius, she is one of those teen girls who can bring anything to life with the stroke of her art pencils, so it came as no surprise when she eagerly began to work on creating art on the finger nails of her girls friends. This for her is natural; it requires no thought on her part. I believe she was simply born with this ability, and I am sure he will use her gift later in life to create even more beautiful masterpieces.
Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank
Proverbs 22:29
In my capacity as a woman and a mother I spend much time thinking about how I can rearrange my home, how I can make simple meals come alive with the presentation and taste. If you were to visit my home, you would be greeted with vibrant colors and sweet scents that scream all that I am, and Who God is to me. I strive to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, so the warm hues and the subtle music that comes from what I call my sanctuary help me to connect with God no matter which room I enter.
During my journey with God, I have discovered an invaluable gift; I am blessed with the ability to write inspirational messages to share with others near and far. I had no idea that when I started that it would mean as much as it does. Oftentimes I get messages from persons who have read the words I share and express how inspiring they are. I thank God for inspiring me, and giving me the creativity to fuse words in such a way that connects with hearts, minds and souls.
The truth is, I never knew that my tendencies and talents were attributes of a virtuous woman until I began to study her character and nature. I soon learned that the Scriptures are truly a guide:
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
Colossians 3:23
All that we do, how we do it, and even the words that we speak all create something. We determine whether we create beautiful works of art or not so beautiful. As you embrace “virtue’ as a standard and a goal, it is my prayer that you too will see and acknowledge the splendor in creation, discover your own creativity and tap into your own divine ability to bring it all to life. You are created with a purpose for purpose. Live purposefully without apology.

LET US PRAY
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today, as I sit in Your presence, I smile as I see how I am developing because of Your loving kindness and tender mercies towards me. I am grateful for Your teachings; thank You Dear Lord for not giving up on me and for exercising patience with me at every turn.
Daily I aim to please You with my speech and actions, help me with my creative skills so they may develop into the woman You have created me to be.
In Jesus’s Name I pray…Amen
